Hey everyone – happy new year – I know some of you know about this and are coming for a new cat or dog – for others if you are interested please copy and paste into your friendster lists, email to everyone you know, etc. This is our first time directly in the neighborhood and we want to find homes for all the homeless pets. Its a hard time of year as shelters are teaming with returns from after Christmas from people who bought pets as gifts and then brought them back after as people didn’t want them. See you there! I will also be there Monday night to promote the event with a cat or dog!
GET A NEW BODY AND A NEW BUDDY WITH
THE PEOPLE-PET PARTNERSHIP and 12th STREET GYM
Make a New Year’s resolution to lose your holiday fat at 12th Street Gym and adopt a shelter pet through PPP.
The People-Pet Partnership (PPP) and 12th Street Gym, in conjunction with PACCA and the PSPCA, present "New Body, New Buddy" pet adoption drive on Saturday, January 15 from 11am to 3pm on the basketball courts at 204 S. 12th Street. (Renters, please provide a copy of your lease that shows apartment is animal-friendly.) PPP will also be collecting unopened cat and dog food, cat and dog toys, treats, towels and blankets for the shelter animals. Event includes raffle prizes, training demonstrations and more!
"12th Street Gym has been an important ally to Philadelphia’s homeless animals, and the People-Pet Partnership, through their sponsorship of an adoption display, holiday food drive and now the "New Body, New Buddy" event," said PPP Board Member Kory Michael Aversa. "We hope to find forever homes for nearly two dozen animals, as well as collect food and provide awareness for shelter adoptables in Philadelphia."
PPP was founded to eliminate the unnecessary euthanizing of adoptable companion animals through partnering with existing animal welfare organizations in Philadelphia. In accomplishing this mission, PPP presents programs and events to decrease the number of homeless dogs and cats that are destroyed due to lack of space in Philadelphia’s traditional shelters and works to increase the spay/neuter rates in the City of Philadelphia. In three short years, PPP has found "forever" homes for more than 900 animals in the city of Philadelphia.
PPP will also host a table with a special adoptable to promote "New Body, New Buddy" on Monday, January 10, 2005 at 12th Street Gym in the early evening.
