The 2012 Philadelphia International Flower Show promises to be a gay old time with new twists, celebrity appearances, culinary treats and hip-shaking entertainment. Philly redefines gay travel with a trip to “New Hawaii.” Our tickets are in and we have our very own passport to adventure! Some things we can’t wait for:
GAY NIGHT OUT
On Monday, March 5, 6:00 PM through 8:30 PM, G Philly and the Flower Show will host a who’s who of the LGBT community for an evening of Hawaiian food and cocktails among the tropical flowers. Last year, this theme night was great for networking — and checking out eye candy that rivals the beauty of the flowers. The mixed crowd also featured everyone from Gayborhood locals to mysterious suburbanites who make a once-a-year city visit. Bonus fun: LGBT guests can enter to win a free stay at the Sheraton™ Waikiki. Special tickets for LGBT night can be purchased here.
Gay foodies and their friends can feast on the food, cooking techniques and traditional recipes that make the Aloha State a premier destination. Show attendees will enjoy a five-star meal in the islands with a VIP 64-seat restaurant in the heart of the breathtaking garden displays. Diners will start with Maui Fish Stew or Green Papaya Salad and end with Banana and Chocolate Bread Pudding, Haupia (Coconut Panna Cotta), or Ginger Crème Brûlée. Our budget is tight lately, so we were extactic that the Hawaiian grub will only cost $18 (soup, salad, and dessert) to $25 (soup, salad, entrée, and dessert).
PA Wine & Spirits Stores presents a treat for fans of BRAVO TV and the ‘Housewives’ reality-TV series. Melissa Gorga and Bethenny Frankel will visit the show and meet fans, snap photos and sign their products. Melissa will be at the show on Friday, March 9th, 5:00 PM – 7:00 PM, signing bottles as the “reality ambassador” of Voli Lyte Vodka. Bethenny stops by on Saturday, March 10th, for a full afternoon of activities starting with a bottle signing of her Skinnygirl wine and spirit product line from 2:30 PM -4:30 PM and then up to a ticketed VIP event called the “Bethenny Experience.”
Flowers aren’t for everyone — but this year’s Flower Show is! Drop off restless partners at the “Man Cave” where they will enjoy the ultimate home theater setup from HiFi House, table games sponsored by SugarHouse Casino, a round of virtual gold and a full bar with beer, wine and Hawaiian-themed cocktails.
