The only cattiness on this runway was that of the whiskers and tails on the models as they proudly pounced with their canine companions. Last night, Pet Support Phashion Charity Affair presented Angels Pet Fashion Show to benefit ASPCA Humane Law Enforcement at Sigma Sound Studios. The dog-themed festivities included fashion, food, music and guest appearances that had us wagging our tails in delight. Mike Jerrick (Fox29 and Good Day Philadelphia) and Kharisma McIlwaine (CW Philly) hosted the event as DJ Hollywood had the pups perking up their ears. Our favorite designer (and story) of the night came from Olga Zablinskaya. She presented a hand-stiched collection of doggie couture that she finished in the dark – as she lost power and was herself affected by Hurricane Sandy.
Other evening highlights included an opening number by the pop-star in the making Felicia Punzo with dancers from Flow Motion. The Goddess Isis and the Misfits hit a high note with their tribute to “Our Fallen Angels:” Donna Summers, Aliyah, Whitney Houston and Amy Winehouse. Local celebrity star power came from designer Jacqueline Myles of Todd Anthony Couture; Seth Williams, Philadelphia District Attorney as Honorary Chairman and model; and Nate Allen, Philadelphia Eagles Safety. In the cocktail area, we enjoyed delicious human treats, but the real foodie fun was for our four-legged friends. Eskico presents hand-crafted pet foods that made human companions drool in delight.
The fun for a good cause benefited ASPCA Humane Law Enforcement as they take care animals in NY, NJ and PA that have suffered from Hurricane Sandy. Organizers estimate that they will help hundreds of pets displaced from families that lost power, were flooded out of their homes and/or who could no longer afford to feed them due to the impact of the storm’s havoc. This unique benefit addresses a critical but less publicized need in the community following a major disaster. We are so thankful we got to be part of the fun for a great cause!
If you would like to make a contribution toward this effort, or if you know of pets suffering from Sandy’s affects, please visit the event website (see donation button on the bottom of the page) or email firstname.lastname@example.org . They will share your information with the ASPCA.
