The summer season will uncork in grand style when 18 of New Jersey’s finest wineries join together for the “Washington Lake Park Wine Festival”- the best new wine festival in New Jersey- taking place Saturday and Sunday June 22-23, from 12 noon –5pm each day. Produced by GPS, Inc., this weekend of great New Jersey wine, local culinary treats, fabulous live music, hand-made artisan crafts and kids activities are the right way to “sip into summer.” Plus, the festival takes place just over the bridge, minutes away from Philadelphia!
The “Washington Lake Park Wine Festival” is proud to feature some of New Jersey’s finest wineries: Amalthea Cellars, Auburn Road Vineyards, Bellview Winery, Cava Winery, Cedarvale Vineyards, Chestnut Run Farms, Coda Rossa Winery, DiBella Winery, DiMatteo Vineyard, Heritage Vineyards, Monroeville Vineyard, Plagido’s Winery, Renault Winery, Sharrott Winery, Silver Decoy Winery, Tomasello Winery, Valenzano Winery, and Wagonhouse Winery. This prestigious group of wineries brings with them numerous award winning wines (including double gold, gold, silver and bronze winners) from the International Finger Lakes Competition, The San Francisco Chronicle Wine Competition and the Indy International Wine Competition just to name a few.
On Saturday, June 22 the “Washington Lake Park Wine Festival” is gearing up for a HOT performance by one of the most talented bands around…THE GAS HOUSE GORILLAS. How do you describe the Gas House Gorillas? Well maybe like this…”If Cab Calloway, Freddy Mercury, Illinois Jacquet and Johnny Ramone started a garage band, it might sound something like the Gas House Gorillas!” Thought by many to be the “primo jump blues band” of all time, the Gas House Gorillas command the stage every time they play. Not only top-notch musicians, these guys are incredible performers. The Gas House Gorillas are known to take their show into the audience spurring fans to sing, dance and just have one heck of a great time! Combining such musical styles as jump blues, rock & roll, swing, Cajun and early funk these boys know how to leave the audience wanting more every time!
On Sunday, June 23 “The Funktion” will be on hand to entertain festivalgoers of all ages. The Funktion is one of New Jersey’s most sought after party & show bands, electrifying those with the most critical musical ear. Blending new and classic songs in styles their own and delivering an experience on par with the most prestigious national acts. The Funktion time and time again brings on their high-energy performance and keeps the audience groovin’ all day long! The Funktion boosts incredible vocals, a killer rhythm section and the hottest horn section around… they are a not to be missed experience!
No wine festival would be complete without delectable “eats and treats” for sale. The “Washington Lake Park Wine Festival” is proud to feature culinary cuisine from some of the best local food establishments around. Joining the festivities both days will be: Terra Nova serving a wide variety of salads, meats and gourmet faire: Carolina Blue serving their signature ribs & smoked turkey legs; Cibo Grill serving seafood, vegan offerings & wraps; Liscio’s Italian Bakery serving gourmet cheese platters, pizza and Italian pastries; Cold Stone Creamery dishing up delicious ice cream treats and Polish Water Ice providing refreshing items for young and old alike. While at the festival stop by our wonderful artisan crafters whose hand made items take on a decidedly “wine flair!” Among the sixteen crafters you will find for sale gourmet spices & sauces, hats, jewelry, lighted wine bottles, gourmet pasta, wine glass charms, wine infused pastries, wine glass holders, wine stoppers and beautiful furniture from recycled wine barrels…. just to name a few.
Tickets for the “Washington Lake Park Wine Festival” can be purchased in advance at the discount rate of $15 and at the gate for $20. Spectators and those under 21 are free. Paid admission to the “Washington Lake Park Wine Festival” includes wine tasting of more than 300 New Jersey wines and a souvenir wine glass.
