City of Hope/ Philly for Hope Philadelphia Summer Party at Oak's Lane With the passing of June we thought the party and social season was going to cool down. Alas, quite the opposite as the July sun rays have brought out a new crop of summertime festivals, happy hours and important causes to support. Next Thursday, July 11th, from 6-8pm, join our Philly Loves Fun team in person at a special after work party to benefit City of Hope Philadelphia/ Philly for Hope.  While they promise delicious bites, summertime sips and great prizes, what really sealed the deal for us was the amazing story of Christy Angelo, who’s life is honored by the party. Read about Christy below and buy your tickets TODAY!

A Party to Honor a True Social Butterfly!

Christy Angelo lost a short five month battle with colon cancer on Christmas Eve 2012. Her mother Clarice and her friends Julie, Rachel, and Meaghan wrote stories and anecdotes to honor her life.  Quote: “Christy truly lit up the room whenever she entered. Her personality, charisma, beauty and love of life emanated from her at all times. Christy always put others before herself.”

When we sat down for a read, we instantly got the feeling we knew Christy – or knew of people just like her – from their words. We could relate as she was the person we see smile and laugh at the restaurants we eat in, the brightly shining social butterfly in the room, the amazing party host tending to guests every need, the person with the can do get it done attitude that lets nothing stand in their way, and the adventurer trying new things and making life interesting. All these things immediately grabbed us we saw a bit of ourselves and our blog in her stories – and we hope you will come out to celebrate her life in the spirit she would have wanted.

Why Give?

City of Hope is a research, treatment and education center dedicated to the prevention, treatment and cure of cancer, diabetes, HIV/AIDS and other life-threatening diseases.  Philly for Hope and the Philadelphia office is located right here in our city – and fighting the good fight in honor of all the Christy’s of the world. While there’s lots of places to get your eats, drinks and fun on this summer, this party celebrates life and makes a direct impact on our local community.
