While summer’s end is still week’s away, its never too early to celebrate our favorite events of the fall. In between the food fests, block parties and neighborhood celebrations, we escaped to Northern Liberties for a beautiful evening under the stars with Philly for Hope. They hosted a special after work party to benefit City of Hope Philadelphia’s Women’s Cancer Walk (formerly Walk for Hope).  The Happy Hour honored a very special young lady Christy Angelo, who would have been proud of the evening’s festivities.  By the end of the event,  spirits were raised for the approaching walk, and approximately $4,500 was raised for the team created in Christy’s honor.

On top of enjoying delicious bites and summer cocktails, we also got to meet some of the amazing faces behind the walk,  including co-chairs Robyn Marino, chapter President and board members, Amelia Gorman and Tara Kelly. We also got to sit down with some of Christy’s friends who simply glowed with warmth as they recounted stories and shared their personal reasons for walking for hope. It was an inspiring evening that made us run out and start recruiting for our 2013 team.  We can’t wait to catch up with everyone again at the walk itself, if not much sooner.  If you weren’t able to make it to the kick off happy hour, check out our pictures below.

Our Aversa PR and Philly Loves Fun walk team page is also up and running! Join us on Sunday, September 22, 2013 as we walk from Riversharks Stadium, across the Ben Franklin (complete with awe-inspiring views), and through Old City to the Headhouse District. We’ll be sure to have lots of fun, snacks and merriment along the way. Sign up today! If you can’t join us, consider making a small donation of $10, $25 or more to help us reach our goal. Thanks in advance!

City of Hope is a research, treatment and education center dedicated to the prevention, treatment and cure of cancer, diabetes, HIV/AIDS and other life-threatening diseases.  Philly for Hope and the Philadelphia office is located right here in our city – and fighting the good fight in honor of all the Christy’s of the world. While there’s lots of places to get your eats, drinks and fun on this summer, this party celebrates life and makes a direct impact on our local community.
