Nick’s Roast Beef in Old City, 16 S. 2nd Street, launches a newly famous ground bacon burger that made us stop and say #musteatnow – with a mouth-dropping blend of ground Bespoke Bacon mixed with ground beef on brioche bun, with lettuce, tomato and pickle chips. The burger makes its debut on Saturday, September 28, 2013, during Bacon and Beer Fest from 5-8pm. Other bacon specialties for the night include bacon nachos, bacon and beer pairings, and even a bacon cheesecake.
The facts: The house-blend of contains the perfect ratio of 35% bacon to 65% beef. This monster burger comes on a brioche roll, with lettuce and tomato on top, and pickle chips on the side. Owner “Joey Dog” Schultice recommends toppings worthy of his new burger, including highlighted combinations:
· Southwestern Twist – Fried pickles, house-made salsa and jalapeño slices
· More Bacon the Better – Choice of sizzling Bespoke flavored bacon strips
· South Philly – Sharp provolone, long hots and caramelized onions
This new creation previewed to bar regulars during last week’s Eagles vs. Chiefs game, and was called “A Burger Fit for the Return of Andy Reid” by the Philadelphia Business Journal.
