With the holiday season in full swing, we’ve put together a list of our favorite events happening in the City of Brotherly Love. From tree lightings to craft shows to drinking events, there are plenty of happening for all ages and we’re excited to share them with you!

East Passyunk Avenue Tree Lighting

Tonight, Thursday, December 5
Join East Passyunk Avenue for their annual Tree Lighting (Passyunk Avenue + 11 Street) above the Singing Fountain from 5:00pm-7:00pm. There will be carolers from Alphabet Academy, music by students from Andrew Jackson School, a special visit from Santa Claus, Ms Goody Cupcakes and free/food drink samples from Avenue restaurants including: holiday cocktail from stateside, bitterballen from NOORD, cookies from Belle Cakery, and hot chocolate from Black N Brew. RSVP + MORE INFO

Following the tree lighting, from 7:00pm-9:0pm Aversa PR + Events (1141 Pierce Street) will host a Holiday Open House. This event is free and open to the public. We heard there are going to be massive holiday decorations that might include a sleigh and soldiers. A dessert bar, light bits, holiday spirits, a rocking DJ and other surprises are included. Friday, December 6
Being avid social media lovers, the #whyilovephilly party happening at the Arden Theatre Co. (40 N. 2nd Street) this week is right up our alley! Philly Love Notes’ annual event is presented by The Arden Theatre Company, Drink Philly and Philebrity. Come have food and booze, listen to music and bask in all the wonderful things happening in our city.  There are quite a lot of participants, but some of our favorites are Stephen Starr’s Continental, High Street Coffee and Little Baby’s Ice Cream. The party runs 6:00pm-9:00pm. Use the event hashtag #whyilovephilly_13. RSVP + MORE INFO  (We hear the party is sold out, but there MIGHT be tickets at the door. Fingers crossed!)

Philly Free School Superfantastical Craft BazaarSaturday, December 7
Looking for something to take the kids to? Or you love crafts? Nice Things Handmade and the Philly Free School are hosting the first annual Superfantastic Craft Bazaar! (Philly Free School – 2001 Christian Street). See over 35 local artisans and crafters turn the school’s roller-skating rink into a holiday wonderland. Shop one-of-a-kind gifts, jewelry, home accessories, glassware and more! Admission is free. Snacks will be provided. Proceeds from the events benefit Philly Free School! RSVP + MORE INFO 

South Street Winter WonderlandSunday, December 8
South Street Headhouse District’s Winter Wonderland + Holiday Tree Lighting (200 Pine Street) is bound to be fun! With a list of celebrity judges, arts + crafts for kids, a holiday market by PHAIR, free horse-drawn carriage rides and a lot more… this is an event we WILL NOT MISS. Kathy O’Connell from WXPN Kid’s Corner will be there emceeing. RSVP + MORE INFO 

Wednesday, December 13
WARNING: for adults only because we’ll be ditching the cookies and milk! Santa is hosting a bar crawl on East Passyunk Avenue with 14 award-winning bars and restaurants.  A $5 admission gets you great drink and food specials at participating locations ($3 seasonal craft beers, $4 merry cocktails and $5 discounted snacks) as well as a Santa or elf hat and Santa’s Sipping Stamp Card. Collection at least 5 stamps to be entered to win a gift certificate prize package worth $350.00.  Register at South Philly Bar & Grill (9th and Wharton) from 5:30-7:30pm. Stamp cards will be collected at Noir (1909 EPA) at 9:30pm. RSVP + MORE INFO

Joe King Trio IISaturday, December 14
Not only is this Second Saturday on Passyunk Avenue, but it’s also the 5th annual Crafty Balboa Holiday Market! (SS Neumann Goretti High School 1736 South Tenth Street – Entrance on 11th and Moore). Over 50 artists and crafters work will be on display and the first 50 shoppers in the door receive goodie bags. The Fleisher Art Memorial will also be on site for crafty make and takeaways.  This event runs from 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. RSVP + MORE INFO

Nice Things Handmade (1731 East Passyunk Ave) will showcase home accessories, jewelry and more at the Holiday Market, then from 6:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. they are hosting a Holiday Ornament Show at their store. Artists were encouraged to submit 7-10 ornaments to display at the show. Submission are actually due today… so if you would like to participate contact the store at (267) 455-0256 and drop your handmade ornaments off by 7:00 p.m.! RSVP + MORE INFO

Wednesday, December 18
Are you Lingerie shopping for yourself or a loved one? Hope Chest (1937 Chestnut Street) is having their Holiday Soiree from 6p.m. to 9p.m. Guests can enjoy 10% off most merchandise, drinks from The Traveler Beer Co and lite bites from Wokworks. There will be a special celebrity trunk show from French lingerie master Simone Perele. RSVP + MORE INFO

Ongoing lightastical fun at Franklin Square
Every night through December 31st, Franklin Square (200 N 6th Street) lights up at 4p.m. with the Electrical Spectacle: A Holiday Light Show. The show (with 50,000 lights) was naturally sparked by Benjamin Franklin’s imagination. Every 30 minutes from 4:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. a soundtrack plays by The Philly POPS to kick-off the light shows. While you’re at the show, check out the delicious food trucks on site. There are different trucks everyday so click here to see the full list of participants.  MORE INFO
