City of Hope Philadelphia kicked off fall in grand purple style with the annual Women’s Cancer Walk to help fight women’s cancer. We were proud to join City of Hope for our third year. This amazing 5K took participants over the Benjamin Franklin Bridge and featured the most stunning view of the city. The route changed and offered new twists and turns through the beautiful Old City District. Old City businesses (like Sweat Fitness) came out to cheer us on, plus a Mummer’s string band had us dancing in the street. The party ended at Arch Street Meeting House, where we enjoyed snacks from Saxby’s and Sweet T’s Bakeshop. While this all sounds like great fun, the best part of the day is raising support for City of Hope’s important mission. Every year, we also love meeting so many amazing new friends that walk as individuals, teams and families. While the walk is over, the campaign still marches on – and you can still make a difference and help. Make a donation to City of Hope by calling 800-344-8169 or come out for the next exciting event, Fitness for Hope at Sweat Fitness Center City on Sunday, November 16, 2014. In the meantime, check out what you missed and definitely make sure to get this event on your radar for 2015. (Sponsored post by City of Hope)

This year’s Women’s Cancer Walk remembered a special champion Gi Cunningham, who was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2000. Gi loved that City of Hope used ninety one cents of every dollar raised for patient care and research efforts. She wanted to lend her support and voice to City of Hope, and she formed Team Poder Latina. Dozens of family members and friends walked in her memory.
