Despite the snow on the ground, spring is around the corner! There’s no better reminder of warmer temps than the return of the Philadelphia Flower Show. The largest flower show in the nation runs now through March 9, 2014 at the Pennsylvania Convention Center. This year’s theme, ARTiculture, brings our imaginations to the intersection of art and horticulture – with something to inspire the artist inside all of us. Join us for our favorite spring tradition. ARTiculture goes above and beyond the usual stunning displays of color, shapes, smells and textures. The exhibits present an unprecedented collaboration of Flower Show designers and the world’s top art institutions that will turn the exhibition space of the Pennsylvania Convention Center into a 10-acre living canvas of exquisite landscapes, gardens and floral arrangements. This is a unique twist as flowers and plants through the ages have inspired the country’s finest masterpieces. This time, the classic masterpieces are providing the inspiration as floral designers choose their palate using everything from rare and exotic blooms to recycled materials from hurricane areas to living frogs to everything in between.
While the unique artistic collaborations make the show one of our top picks, it’s the bonus extras that make it a “must attend, not to be missed” event. Highlights include aerial dancers by the entrance garden (inspired by paintings by Alexander “Sandy” Calder), a new interactive butterfly experience, do-it-yourself terrariums and floral crowns, a Crayola family experience, special theme nights, chef and celebrity appearances, and tons more!
